Mike turned 30 yesterday!!! Happy Birthday Baby! We spent the day making cake and enjoying good friends and family. It really was a blast! Susan came over and helped me out with my crazy idea for a cake. And to be my anti-stress :) Have I mentioned how much I love her?!?
He may be 30, but I really really love planning parties. Like, a LOT! I start months beforehand and get everything ready that I need. I feel like this year, I was a lot more busy. But, everything was executed perfectly! This years theme was Mad Science! He is a big geek, which I love, so this was a blast to plan. By the way, science decorations are few and far between. I really had to be creative.
I got the idea for the cake from the Family Fun website. I was originally going to just to a two tiered cake with flasks and beakers bubbling on top. But, I have always have to do more than I think I can handle! ALWAYS! I did a chocolate cake with funfetti (Susan’s and I’s favorite) legs. I made fondant out of MMF. The fondant is SO easy! I kinda sketched my own frog design and just went with it. The toes were the WORST part. But they turned out great! I would of done a batch and half of fondant next time.. just to have enough! :)
Mike was pretty excited about it! :)
I had to Google the frogs insides. I didn’t know where they went. I never did the dissection. I thought it was cruel. They are all made out of brachs candy some how.
heart. lungs. liver. intestines. stomach. bladder. various other parts :)
The table. I found beakers on Oriental Trading and I stamped my own plates with foamy stamps from OT. I bought candies like nerds, smarties, gummy works and bugs.
The cake was delicious! :)
